If the world's strongest man
Could hold the world in the palm of his hand
Would he crush us all into dust?
As a way to punish us
These are the kind of things
That seem to occupy me
If a giant lobster claw
Rose up through the bedroom floor
Would it chase you all around
And if you hide, you know you'll be found
All those thoughts that haunt your brain
Coming back to get you again
In the darkest hour of the night
Come around to fill you with fright
These are the thoughts that occupy me
When you think that I'm asleep
Night terrors invade your brain
Coming out to get you again
Make you think things aren't as they seem
Make you fill the night with a scream
You try warm milk and a book
Yet find yourself chased by Captain Hook
An evening full of exercise
Then you're watched by evil eyes
And if you drink yourself to sleep
you'll drown in water only three feet deep
The scary spots in the back of your brain
Come out at night to get you again
This is what occupies me
When you think I'm asleep
Night terrors
Night terrors
Night terrors
Night terrors

Don't burn the bridge they say
Yet here I stand any way
With a can of gas and a match
In my hand
Thinking how after all this time
Still not sure what's yours and what's mine
And neither of us is sure
We can walk away
You say you want to try
But I'm quite sure I've hear that lie
Come out of your mouth
So many times before
"It'll be different this time"
Sounds just like another line
You're feeding me
To try to make me stay
You think you own me
But I don't owe you
You think you know me
But I don't know you

Chester Arthur was the president
But no one remembers him
What about you?
He served a term with no vice president
And no one resident
To tell him what to do
He came to office by a bullet's grace
Garfield lost his place
And Arthur took charge
He lost his wife at age forty two
Knew what he had to do
Not to marry again
If I disappear from history
Will you find a way to remember me?
Or will I fade out of your memory
Only living on
In a song?
He ordered all of his papers burned
And anything you hoped to learn
Went away
And when he died he was laid to rest
In a place he thought was best
Next to Nell
Chester Arthur was the president
But no one remembers him
What about you?

Hey there Mr. Flashy Pants
Hey there voice of thunder
As you lie there flat on your back
Does it ever make you wonder
If all the pomp and circumstance
And all the fancy moves
Were really worth the effort
Or did they make you look the fool?
Hey there Mr. Flashy Pants
Hey there General Custer
You've showed us all your best dance moves
And dazzled us with bluster
So tell me
how did that work out?
Do you
have a bit of doubt?
Hey there, Mr. Flashy Pants
Hey there, Mr. Flashy Pants
Hey there, Mr. Flashy Pants
Hey there, Mr. Flashy Pants
Dance
Hey there Mr. Flashy Pants
Hey there new boy wonder
Do you feel that creeping doubt quite yet?
Do you wonder if you've blundered?
You've thrown around some mighty words
And shouted them quite loud
But your words feel so cheap
We don't believe you now
Hey there, Mr. Flashy Pants
Hey there, Mr. Flashy Pants
Hey there, Mr. Flashy Pants
Hey there, Mr. Flashy Pants
Dance
One day you might understand
I hope that you will understand
But I'm not sure you'll ever understand
What I mean
Hey there, Mr. Flashy Pants
Hey there, Mr. Flashy Pants
Hey there, Mr. Flashy Pants
Hey there, Mr. Flashy Pants
Dance

Raised in the Ozarks in witness protection, his parents turned on the mob
As a boy, he loved "We Are the World," now saving it is his job
A master of mystery, even he's not allowed to know his own name
He wants to live forever, in the eighties he landed a role in the movie "Fame"
Plaid shirt singing showtunes, when he has you at gunpoint, he'll say "yous guys"
Hillbilly ex-Mafia anti-nuke theatrical international spy
Master of gadgets, modern-day James Bond, like Batman in plaid shirts and clogs
Likes to say danger's his middle name, at least according to his mom
It all sounds surreal, this modern-day hero, but every word of this is true
You may laugh now, but when the tables are turned, you'll be glad he's here to save you
And then there's the part where the hero gets the girl
Our man, he always gets the girl
By hook or by crook, the hero gets the girl
And you know HEMANTIS will always get the girl

Had the dream again this morning
Pictured just how it would be
Saw it moving in slow motion
Felt it rushing up to me
And suddenly it's happening
I can't seem to make myself believe
Clench my fists
Lose my grip
The world runs through to meet me head on
Happened quicker than expected
I blinked and thought it was gone
As if I'd imagined the whole thing
I'm not moving but the music's still going
The song is ringing in my head
I try to shake it once again
I find myself out in the rain
Looking for a friendly face
And suddenly it's happening
This isn't quite how I thought it would be
Clench my fists
Lose my grip
The world runs through to meet me head on
An inconvenience
Perhaps a mis-direction
Comes a time where the lines become blurred
Sometimes when you get what you want
You find out that the truth really hurts
If I try to remember
Nothing comes back to me
Like a thumb across the lens now
Six seconds seems an eternity
And suddenly it's happening
I can't seem to make myself believe
Clench my fists
Lose my grip
It's time for you to meet me head on

I've got to get a message to you
I've got to get a message to you
I've got a message that can't get through
I've got to get a message to you
There are things you need to know
And things I need to say
But I can't get through to you
I've got to find a way
And I don't want to be the one you blame
For things that went unsaid
But I can't find a way to get through to you
So I'll talk to myself instead
I've got to get a message to you
I've got to get a message to you
I've got a message that can't get through
I've got to get a message to you
If I try too hard to force the words
Will you just turn away?
Or will you hear me out and give me a chance
And maybe let me stay?
And I don't want to be the one who decides
What's right or wrong for you
And I want to find a way to get one more chance
But I can't get a message through

I want to be
Your honey bee
And you could be the only bee for me
Monogamy
For you and me
You, my little sweetheart
Monagabee
Life would be so happy, you see
If you would be the only bee for me
And we would be
Happy as can be
Pollenating flowers
And the trees
And I would be
Such a happy me
Me, with my sweetheart
Monagabee
My days would be the best that they could be
If I could spend them with Monagabee
Life would be so happy, you see
If you would be the only bee for me
(inst)
My days would be the best that they could be
If I could spend them with Monagabee
Life would be so happy, you see
If you would be the only bee for me
So let me be
Your honey bee
And say that you're the only bee for me
Monogamy
For you and me
My lovely little sweetheart
Monogabee
My one and only sweetheart
Monogabee
Be my little sweetheart
Monogabee

You laid down the challenge
You said you want to hear a song about a donkey again
Well, I'm here to tell you
I have a little story about my friend
He put himself through college
Working all day and in class all night
And when he finally finished
He found himself filled with delight (by)
A graduation donkey
Magna cum laude on a burro's back
(His picture on a) graduation donkey
Getting out of school, not looking back
(He has) A graduation donkey
A cap and gown pose on a burro's back
A graduation donkey
A jenny for the future, now that's a fact
So began his bright future
Doors were flying open everywhere he went
It seemed as if this donkey
Was really something special, he was heaven-sent
Our friend was like a wonder boy
Success was in his path everywhere he turned
And we was oh so happy
He'd put in the effort in order to earn
A graduation donkey
Magna cum laude on a burro's back
(His picture on a) graduation donkey
Getting out of school, not looking back
(He has) A graduation donkey
A cap and gown pose on a burro's back
A graduation donkey
A jenny for the future, now that's a fact
And I'm sure by now
You all want to know where this story heads
He didn't count on the braying
A sound loud enough to wake the dead
Annoying all the neighbors
Non-stop noise every night and day
He finally had to admit
His favorite fuzzy friend just couldn't stay
Just when it seemed darkest
When our hero would lose his one true friend
The neighbors came together
To do what they knew was best for him
They told him "you keep the donkey"
We'll find a way to deal with all the noise
But you and your donkey
Are setting a new standard for our girls and boys
You and your graduation donkey
Magna cum laude on a burro's back
A graduation donkey
Got him out of school, no turning back
A graduation donkey
A cap and gown pose on a burro's back
A graduation donkey
A jenny for the future, now that's a fact

Do you wonder
What became of me?
Cause I wonder
What became of you
Since you wandered
Wandered far away
Full of wonder
I couldn't make you stay
So I wonder what became of you
Did you do the things you had to do?
Will you find your way back here to me?
Or will the wandering go on
Another day?
Do you wonder
If I finally changed?
Do you wonder
If I stayed the same?
Did you wander
To get yourself away?
Do you wonder
If you should have stayed?
Do you wonder what became of me?
Do you wonder if I feel the same?
Do you wonder if we'd ever be
Back the way we were?
I wish I knew
If you ask me
I swear to tell the truth
I still find myself
Looking out for you
I wonder if the wondering
And all the wondering wandering
Will bring you what you need
And you'll find you way back home

All songs by Tim Alexander except for HEMANTIS (Tim Alexander/Keith Landry) and Head On (Tim Alexander/Samantha Wrinkle)
Thanks to: Sam and Doc for my fabulous S&D guitar, a girl named Sam and Keith Landry for the co-writing, Clarke for the musical inspiration and a ton of great ideas, Ian for the most awesome bass part ever (I still don't know how I talked you into playing on my song…), Grant for giving me REAL DRUMS for the first time ever, and all of you who have listened to and encouraged me.
And, of course, my loving wife and biggest fan, Nanette. You're the only bee for me.
